Last year’s Festival

September the 14th 2013 saw the first Istarsko – Irski Festival (Istria – Ireland) being staged in Fažana just across from the Brijuni Islands. The project is the concept of Paul O’Grady and legend of Istrian fusion music – Franko Krajcar. The concept is simple – to share a day of Irish and Istrian culture together. From both traditions there is music, dance, readings from our respective great writers and a taste of the food and beverages form each of these deeply cultural regions. The idea was born from a chat on how Franko loves Irish tunes and rhythms and how Paul living close by in Vodnjan has grown to love and respect the culture of his now home – Istria.
